Friday we are going into the studio for a couple weeks to record and produce our newest album. I can’t help but feel we are on the precipice of something great. I suppose every musician feels that way and many do not succeed but this album has a tinge of something different. I have never felt this way before. My songs are at a level I have not experienced beforehand. I don’t think they sound like any other worship band and yet I believe they are sing-able for the average Church. These songs are monuments of pain, joy and surrender. They are birthed through fire and light.
I am so thankful I will have the chance to participate with these musicians not for their abilities, which they have in spades, but for their hearts. I love seeing video of our band leading worship only to see Doug, our drummer, singing at the top of his lungs. Shine Like Stars is made up of people like that. You know, worshippers of the Most High God.
Friday we go into Green Jean’s studios in Wellington, KS only to emerge for a couple Sundays and the 4th of July. We are going to work our tails off to give these songs the shot they deserve. We have practiced fervently and we are spending everything in the till to get this done. My prayer is that what emerges is a monument to God that gives voice to our heart and worshippers across the nation.
This is only the start.
